In reaction to the inertia and lack of transparency on the part of Brazil’s federal government, ANDA has launched a petition urging the government to get its act together and stop the oil spill from causing further damage.
So far, the oil spill has affected more than 2,000 km of coastline, 200 beaches, 14 preservation areas and killed countless animals. The damage keeps growing. Locals have taken responsibility in their own hands to clean up the beaches and many have fallen ill due to contact with the toxic material. Important ecosystems are being impacted, with unknown consequences on wildlife. It is a crime against the planet and the government is sitting on its hands. This must change now!
